Dear Mr. Stamm;
It gives me great pleasure to inform you that to honor and celebrate the 40th anniversary of NYCHSRO/MedReview, Jewish American Heritage Celebration 2014 will be recognizing this very important milestone by honoring you at the annual Congressional Jewish American Heritage Month event.
This year’s Celebration will take place May 7, 2014, 1:30PM in the LBJ Room (S-211) in the US Capitol.
In 2006, the month of May was proclaimed Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM) by the United States Congress in an effort to honor the various contributions and achievements of Jewish Americans. President George W. Bush proclaimed the month of May Jewish American Heritage Month at the urging of Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida and former Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and it has since become a lasting tradition. Congresswoman Wasserman Shultz explained their motivation, “Jewish American Heritage Month [is] to increase tolerance and raise awareness about …the depth and breadth of contributions of Jews through 350 years of Jewish life in America… through every walk of life is incredibly important.”
This Year’s Jewish Heritage event will also celebrate the Senate passage of S. 1456- bipartisan legislation introduced by Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) to award Israeli President Shimon Peres with a Congressional Gold Medal.
As we have done annually, we will be coordinating an exclusive award ceremony in the United States Capitol to pay tribute to the United States for the great country it is today. We look forward to recognizing exemplary American Jews who embody patriotism and freedom. These individuals personify a wide array of American ideals and beliefs and devote their time to bettering their communities by exercising a variety of talents and professions. Jewish American Heritage Month Celebration honors those who have coupled timeless Jewish values with the principles that have allowed the Jewish community to thrive in these United States. Awards will be presented by a prominent member of Congress.
Paying tribute to NYCHSRO/MedReview at the Jewish Heritage celebration is especially appropriate this year as our theme for Jewish American Heritage Month is: “American Jews and Tikkun Olam”–Healing the World.
As MedReview continues to celebrate 40 years of service as an independent review organization, improving the world of healthcare through medical reviews, quality audits, and health services management you uphold the highest standards in the medical professional industry thus earning status as a role model and worthy of recognition.
