POSITION DESCRIPTION

Nurse Surveyor, Nursing Home Complaints
Social Worker Surveyor, Nursing Home Complaints

Reports to: Director, Nursing Home Complaints

General Responsibilities:

This individual is responsible for onsite investigation of complaints in nursing homes.

Duties:

  • Works in a team or alone, to conduct surveys, monitoring, Informal Dispute Resolution, quality assurance audits, enforcements, and complaint investigations in Nursing Homes
  • Responsible for all pre- and post-survey and investigation activity, including survey preparation, drafting Statements of Deficiency, and reviewing Plans of Correction
  • Responsible for testifying as necessary
  • Responsible for remaining onsite at the Nursing Home in cases of Immediate Jeopardy, until a plan is approved
  • Required to become SMQT-certified within one year of employment
  • Requires local travel within 5 boroughs of New York City

Qualifications for Nurse Surveyor:

  • Registered Nurse, licensed and registered in New York State
  • 2 years experience performing utilization review, claims adjudication, medical review, fraud investigation; surveillance or monitoring activities; (OR) 3 years clinical or administrative experience in a medical facility; (OR) Bachelors degree in nursing and two years of clinical or administrative experience in a medical facility.
  • 2 years experience in clinical surveillance; and 2 years experience in quality assurance, utilization review or risk management; and 2 years clinical experience in long term care, hospital, ICF/MR, adult care or home health care

Qualifications for Social Worker Surveyor:

  • Masters degree in social work, licensed and registered in New York State as LMSW or LCSW
  • 2 years experience performing utilization review, claims adjudication, medical review, fraud investigation; surveillance or monitoring activities; (OR) 3 years clinical or administrative experience in a medical facility; (OR) Bachelors degree in nursing and two years of clinical or administrative experience in a medical facility.
  • 2 years experience in clinical surveillance; and 2 years experience in quality assurance, utilization review or risk management; and 2 years clinical experience in long term care, hospital, ICF/MR, adult care or home health care
