A native of Brooklyn, Dr. Lewin is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine with residency and board certification in internal medicine. Dr. Lewin maintained 12 years of clinical practice followed by 26 years of work in utilization management, claims and coding review, disability adjudication and review, property and casualty insurance review and analysis, in addition to Medicare fraud, waste and abuse investigation. He served for 14 years as corporate medical director of Alicare Medical Management Inc. In addition he served for 8 years as regional consulting medical director for EDS’s northeastern region CMS Program Safeguards Contractor program. For 3 years he was Senior Medical Director of Fallon Community Health Plan, an NCQA top-10%-rated HMO. In addition, he has served as the senior medical consultant to McKesson’s InterQual division. Dr. Lewin also is a developer of specialized database solutions for medical review organizations. His special interests lie in technology assessment, systems of review and in coding and reimbursement issues. He is a Member, American College of Physician Executives and has worked closely with Taft-Hartley/ERISA groups.
