George Bopp

George F. Bopp joined NYCHSRO/MedReview in 1992 and has been responsible for expanding NYCHSRO/MedReview data operations and reporting methodologies as well as enhancing existing data integrity programs, particularly in the ambulatory area, through the development of the Non-Institutional Claims Evaluation (NICE) program.

Prior to coming to NYCHSRO/MedReview, Mr. Bopp served for twenty-five years at Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield, supervising a wide variety of functions including claims review, processing and customer service for private and Medicare businesses. Mr. Bopp directed the physician services utilization review program, which assessed physician patterns of practice and reviewed on-site ambulatory office practice, and developed EBCBS’ account data analysis and reporting division, with responsibility for both the assurance of data integrity and the provision of data reports assessing utilization experience in relation to benefits coverage.

Mr. Bopp received his B.A. from Manhattan College and his M.P.H. from the New School University. He has taught systems and methods at Bloomfield College and has given seminars on Health Care Reimbursement as part of New York University Hospital’s resident intern training program.
