Janet Mackin, EdD, RN, has been a member of the NYCHSRO/MedReview’s Board of Directors since 2005, serving as the Board’s consumer representative. Dr. Mackin received her Masters of Science degree in Nursing from New York Medical College/ Pace University and was certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Doctorate in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Dr. Mackin is the Dean of Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing, a college located in New York City. In addition to her clinical practice, she served in a variety of leadership roles: Dean of Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing, Director of Training and Organizational Development for Continuum Health Partners, Director of Education and Organization for St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital Center. Dr. Mackin is a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and serves on the boards of numerous educational institutions. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the New York Organization of Nurse Executives, the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities and a former Fellow of the Royal Academy of Medicine.
Dr. Mackin has lectured widely both nationally and internationally on nursing and educational issues. Over her career, her work has been published in professional journals and nursing texts. She has received numerous awards for her contributions to education and has received grant funding for many of her innovative educational initiatives.
